Most days we wake up thinking we know how the day is going to go, but the current circumstances have taught me that how the day goes is not in our hands. But how we live each moment is surely something we can work on, and that each day is truly a gift.

For the past couple of weeks, life has been full of uncertainties from school, activities, and family interactions. While we all are at home and life should possibly be more settled, it has been more chaotic than anything else, but I am not sure if it is more chaotic in reality or our minds.

Yesterday, after dinner my father and I were talking about the current global situation and I had a realization which I felt is worth a discussion among us all during these times. He reminded me of our discussion of what mindfulness means when we had gone kite flying and shared that it is now the time to practice being mindful. I was puzzled and he responded by asking me if I knew what Mr. Miyagi was teaching Daniel son while making him do wax on, wax off in the movie Karate Kid. While we sat at the dinner table going back and forth, it finally came to me. Daniel son saw wax on, wax off as a useless activity and concluded that Mr. Miyagi was using him to remodel his house. What turned out was he was being trained subconsciously on the foundation of karate. Similarly, these recent moments are teaching us how to be mindful. Currently, we are physically being mindful in how we interact, but what if we also become consciously mindful of our thoughts and emotional behaviors. If we begin to do our daily activities consciously, then it could aid in reprogramming our subconscious mind and changing our thought patterns.

Maybe I am too young to think this way, or I do not fully understand it yet, but once I heard Rajen uncle talk about two planes of time, one through physical and the other through thought. Possibly this is what he was talking about. Where today in the physical plane of time we are all trying to take precautions by isolating ourselves, but are we also making the same effort in our daily lives to isolate ourselves from negative thoughts.

What an opportunity mother nature has put in front of us. The current situation is one none of us wants, but how can we use this as an opportunity for our growth and self-development. It is time to train. I would love to hear your perspective on this and how we can all grow together.

On a lighter note now that we all have some time, this is a perfect moment to share your wonderful insights, over a cup of coffee. During these times, we all need more positive energy to light our chandelier by sharing your inspirational life lessons.
