Many of my cousins ask me why to do you like India so much, as many people think of India they see it as a developing country. While it does not have many of the luxuries, fancy roads, and its evolving infrastructure as a nation. It is rich in culture which I look forward to seeing every year. Something that is attractive like a diamond that once you get attracted to it you fall in love with it. I want to share some of the fascinating experiences I had in the many years I have been coming to India.

You do not experience the culture only at sometimes, but you experience it at all levels, even if you are just asking for road directions. One thing I love about India is how much people trust each other. For example, when I was 11 years old we went to Jodhpur and our driver saw that my sister, Keyaa, was bored and without having met her before he gave Keyaa his phone to play on. The next year when we went to Jaipur there were no direct flights, so the driver took a day off and drove us from Jodhpur to Jaipur and he stopped in Puskar as we wanted to go there too. In India, we go to Gauri in Baroda to buy Keyaa and mom’s clothes for Diwali and every year I come, and they give me Thumbs Up. Last year I did not come as I was playing cards at home and when my mom went she came home and told me that the uncle there asked where I am. Fun fact, in India they have hospitality courses for college to get a job at a hotel. Generally, at hotels you expect them to know the names of your parents but they knew me and my sister’s names, and in just one day they learned everything we liked and they ensured we always had fun and were smiling.

We have heard stories of how many leaders such as President Obama, Bill Gates, has taken a while to visit India as without a reason it is not the place you think of when it comes to vacation or tourism but when due to business or other reasons people have visited India they have fallen in love with the country forever, not with the place but with the culture.
