The big day has finally come after 8 years. I started karate when I was 4 years old and now it was time to test for my black belt. This was not just a test for my belt, but test of life. My teacher told me testing for black belt was more than just doing Karate by meant taking on new challenges and responsibilities. I also had to worry about my 2nd term finals, the karate tournament, and demo practice. It all came at the same time.

My coach was right and it was a real test of life, but I was ready and determined. We had 4 weeks of testing every day except for Wednesday along with tournament and demo preparations which was more than 12 hours a week. There were finals in all the subjects for the 2nd trimester. There was a point when I did not know what to do. I hate confessing, but my dad was right, it was time for time management. (Time Management Blog). From here onward we started to win the battle one step at a time. I stopped worrying about climbing the mountain, but wining one step at a time.

On February 14th it was time. It was the final day of testing and I gave it all I got. At one point I gave up and at that moment in time the lion in me came out full of determination and I passed. From here on it was all up hill. I got my belt, did well at the tournament, saw my sister break her first board, made it through my finals, and closed the 2nd term strong. I am still the same Anuj, but with a new goal. Now I know that there is a lion inside me, who wants to win.
